Mr. Henry Ambrose Martin of Geneva went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at his home. He was 97 years old. Henry was born March 17, 1927 to the late Jasper and Emma Belle Martin of Coffee Springs. He was married to his wife, the late Marie Johnson Martin for 71 years. Henry was a member of Eden Baptist Church in Coffee Springs, where he served as a past song director and director of Training Union. He was a man of action, rather than words. He loved Jesus and demonstrated to his children and grandchildren the deep sense of joy that comes from knowing our Savior. He also loved his family well, demonstrating how to love by devotedly and selflessly caring for and loving his wife through her declining last years. He lived a long life of faithfulness with the things God had entrusted him and a full reliance upon Him for the harvest.
Henry was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion. He began farming in the 1940’s and actively farmed for over 71 years. He served on the Geneva County Conservation Board for 45 years, beginning in 1978. He is a past president of the Geneva County Hog Producers Association. He also served on the Board of the Geneva County Cattleman’s Association. He served as a Geneva County Commissioner for two terms.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Christopher Martin, Tim Teat, Ben Roberts, Darrell Messer, Johnny Stafford, and Gavin Huguley serving as pallbearers, and grandson, Joshua Martin, officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Eden Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 5-7 pm. In addition to his parents and wife, he is predeceased by a great granddaughter, Jane Frances Martin; his sister, Gladys Martin Gibson; brothers Barney Lee Martin, Leaman Martin, and Emmitt Martin.
Henry is survived by his two sons: Bobby (Liz) Martin and Don (Barbara) Martin. His 5 grandchildren: Robert (Casey) Martin, Chelsie (Tim) Teat, Joshua (Amy) Martin, Christopher (Katie) Martin, and Nanette (Ben) Roberts; and 20 great grandchildren: Emma, Leah, George and Lucy Martin; Logan, Makenzie, Austin, Katelyn, Preston, and Landon Teat; Jude, Guy, Lottie, Luke, and Alice Martin; Jeremiah and Madison Martin; and John Martin, Henry, and Thomas Roberts; faithful friend and caregiver, Jake Hornsby; and several nephews and nieces and other extended family and friends.
The family would like to express a special thank you to two wonderful caregivers Ann McClenny and Ruby Shirah for the love and care they provided to Henry over the past 10 months. In addition, thank you to Gentiva Hospice.
To paraphrase Genesis 35:28 & 29: Now the days of Henry Martin were 97 years, 9 months, and 25 days. And Henry breathed his last, and he died and was gathered to his people, old and full of days. And his sons Bobby and Don buried him.

Terry Dale Sanders, known affectionately as Terry to his friends and family, passed away after an extended illness on January 12, 2025, in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 69. Born on September 22, 1955, in Winterhaven, Florida, Terry was a man whose presence was as comforting as the southern sun and as enduring as the tall pines of his beloved woods.
Terry’s life was a tapestry woven with love, hard work, and the joys of the simple things. He shared a love story that many could only dream of, having married his childhood sweetheart, Mary Sanders, at a young age. Their union was a testament to devotion, spanning 51 years of shared dreams and mutual support. Together, they raised their daughter, Sherry Ball, and remembered with love their children, Shane and Angel Sanders, who predeceased him. The light of Terry’s life shone brightly on his grandchildren, Jamison Ray, Jackson Alexander, and Ellowyn Marie Ball, as he cherished every moment with them, forever holding dear the memory of his late granddaughter, Coraline Elizabeth Ball.
The youngest son of the late Rudolph “Bob” Sanders and Doris Gilly Sanders, Terry grew up with a foundation of family values that he carried throughout his life. After he experienced the loss of his brothers Tony and Watasi Sanders, his spirit remained unshaken, and he continued to be a pillar for his family, including his nephews Tony “Bubba” Sanders,Jamie Howell, and Joshua Sanders; his nephew, Allen Dale Sanders and Chris Frank, who predeceased him; he also leaves behind his treasured nieces, Mandy Franks and Brittney Kennedy. He was a brother-in-law to Hazel Sanders and a best friend to Lynn Williford, both of whom shared in the joys and sorrows of his journey.
Terry’s early education took place at Swannee County Highschool in Live Oak, Florida, where the seeds of his future endeavors were sown. His career began with a role tending to gas lines for the City of Live Oak, FL, showcasing his inherent responsibility and dedication. These traits would later serve him well as he channeled his artistic abilities into his own business, setting tile and marble in the homes of those that his work inspired, transforming ordinary spaces into works of art with his skilled hands.
A true country boy at heart, Terry found solace and excitement in the great outdoors, whether he was hunting, fishing, or simply basking in the serenity of the woods. His gentle and meek nature made him a comforting presence to all who knew him. He was a man of insight, capable of reading people with ease, and his balancing calm was a gift to those caught in life’s storms. Terry’s artistic and handy skills were matched only by his intelligence and strong work ethic, which he applied to every endeavor, be it building, fixing, or creating.
Above all, Terry was a provider, always ensuring that his family’s needs were met with love and a reassuring, “I’ll swing it.” This phrase was a testament to his determination and care, particularly for his daughter, who knew she could always count on her father to make things happen.
Words like handy, kind, and thoughtful paint only a partial picture of Terry. He was a man who loved his family and people profoundly, and this love was reflected in his actions every day. His legacy is one of unwavering commitment to his family, a life rich with creativity, and a heart that knew the boundless depths of kindness.

Robert Clarence Horne, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025, in Enterprise, Alabama, at the age of 81. Born on March 2, 1943, in McKenzie, Alabama, Robert’s life was marked by his loving nature, generosity, and deep faith.
Robert’s early years in McKenzie were filled with the joys of youth and sportsmanship. He graduated from McKenzie High School as an outstanding athlete, having played both football and baseball with great passion and skill. His love for his hometown was only matched by his commitment to his country, as he joined the Air Force and served for four years with honor.
After his military service, Robert settled in Newton, Alabama, where he would reside for the next 59 years. He dedicated many years to his career as an Aircraft Mechanic at Fort Rucker, a role he performed with meticulous care until his well-earned retirement. Robert’s work ethic and expertise were highly regarded by all who knew him.
Beyond his professional life, Robert was an active and devoted member of the Newton United Methodist Church. His service on several committees reflected his unwavering commitment to his faith and community. Additionally, his fraternal spirit found a home at the Masonic Lodge in Newton, where he enjoyed fellowship and contributed to the organization’s endeavors.
Robert’s life was one of giving and selflessness, qualities that were evident in every aspect of his journey. Known for his loving and generous heart, he was a man who never met a stranger, always extending a hand of friendship and support. His firm but fair approach to life, coupled with his role as a devoted Christian, made him a pillar in his community and an inspiration to those around him.
An avid Alabama fan, Robert’s enthusiasm for sports continued throughout his life. He also found solace and joy in fishing, where he could reflect on life’s blessings and enjoy the tranquility of nature. His spirit of adventure and love for the outdoors were infectious, often shared with family and friends.
Family was the cornerstone of Robert’s world. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Jean Horne, his stepchildren, Burton Cleris Mosher, IV, and Rodney Frank Mosher, his sister, Ann McGoun, and his brother, J.B. Horne. Robert’s legacy of love continues through his wife, Susan Horne, his stepson, Lehman Irby (Diane), his six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored. His very special niece, Kayla Marie McGowan, and his great-niece also held a dear place in his heart. Robert’s beloved K-9 companion, Trixie, was a constant source of joy and companionship.
Robert Clarence Horne lived a life characterized by love, generosity, and faith. He was a beacon of light for his family and the many lives he touched. His memory will be treasured and his presence deeply missed. As we say farewell to a man who embodied the best of us, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us all.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Newton United Methodist Church with Rev. Sam Williams officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Newton City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening at Sunset Funeral Home from 4:00pm-6:00pm and on Wednesday one hour prior to service time. CLEARWATER, FLORIDA. . .Timothy Lee Anderson, a resident of Clearwater, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
Timothy Lee Anderson was born on September 18, 1986, in Dothan, Alabama and lived around the world as a military child. He graduated from General H.H. Arnold High School in Wiesbaden, Germany where he met the love of his life, Sarah Anderson. They were happily married for 14 years. Together, they had two beautiful children, Seth and Evelyn.
Timothy enjoyed being a husband, dad, and uncle. His favorite activities included bowling with his kids and watching movies with his wife. On his children’s birthdays, he took them trampolining and cooked their favorite meals.
Timothy’s absence will be deeply felt, as he was taken from this world far too soon. He is survived by his wife, Sarah; his children, Seth and Evelyn; his mother, Frankie; his siblings, Paul, Megan (Peter), and Alan Jr.; his nephews, PJ and Nicholas; his grandfather, John (Vicky); and his grandmother, Mildred Owens.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Alan Morano.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 17, 2025, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel, Headland, Alabama. Funeral service will then be held at 2:00 P.M. with Logan Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Newton City Cemetery in Newton, Alabama.

Jerry Dell was born and reared in Houston County, near Dothan, son of the late James Lawton Dell, Sr. and Mildred Smith Dell. He was a graduate of Headland High School and received a B. S. Degree in Agriculture Business and Economics from Auburn University. A Certified Licensed Appraiser in Alabama, Georgia and Florda, Jerry owned and operated Jerry Dell Appraisals in Enterprise. In earlier years, he was employed by the Farmers Home Administration in Abbeville, Blakely, GA and New Brockton. He was affiliated with Sylvan Grove Methodist Church. Jerry was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Dell and the mother of his daughter, Michele Dell Fiala.

Mr. Douglas was a lifelong resident of Kinsey, son of the late Troy A. Douglas and Ola Kelly Douglas. He served his country in the Army National Guard in the Headland unit which was activated during the Berlin Crisis. Mr. Douglas was an active member of Kinsey Baptist Church where he served on several committees. He was a charter member of the Kinsey Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Douglas was engaged in farming all his adult lifetime. He enjoyed gatherings with his family and especially his grandchildren. Mr. Douglas was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Sarah Cobb Douglas; two sons, Phillip Douglas (Ginger), and Michael Douglas (Sylvia), all of Kinsey; grandchildren, Kaylee Hughes (Josh), Davis Allen Douglas and Jodi Lyn Douglas; great-grandchildren, Bryson Howell, Colton Hughes and Anslie Hughes; numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Josh Hughes, Davis Allen Douglas, Bryson Howell, Chris Ellenburg, Scott Ellenburg and Max Colon.
