Kenneth William Haynie of Elba, AL passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025. He was 64 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Liberty Church of Christ, 715 Troy Highway, Elba, AL with Minister Greg Hanchey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva, AL directing. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 9:00 a.m. The family will accept flowers or memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Church of Christ Cemetery Fund.
Ken was born in Atlanta, GA on October 01, 1960 to Elizabeth Helen Blotner Haynie and the late William Franklin Haynie. In 1983 he married Lynda in Stone Mountain, GA, where that same year, he began a long and distinguished career in the financial business with E.F. Hutton in the Southeast Regional Margin Department. After 35 years in the business, he retired as the Director of PCG Business Controls with Wells Fargo Advisors. He settled in Elba, AL with his wife, Lynda to be near her daughter, Kim Hughes, a resident since 2010.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Lynda Haynie of Elba, AL; his mother, Elizabeth Haynie of Enterprise, AL; stepdaughter, Kim Hughes (Ricky) of Elba, AL; two grandchildren, Darren Holden (Kirstin) of Monroe, GA and Jack Hughes of Johns Island, SC. Many other special extended family members and friends also survive.
Judy Gail Register, a beacon of love and compassion, passed away peacefully in her birthplace of Dothan, Alabama, on January 20, 2025. Born on June 8, 1947, Judy’s life was a journey marked by dedication, care, and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of others.
Judy’s story is one of boundless passion and kindness. She embarked on her life’s mission after studying nursing at Wallace Community College, where she nurtured the seeds of her innate desire to help those in need. Her career as a travel nurse was a testament to her adventurous spirit and her ability to touch lives far and wide. Judy’s work in the ICU and as a Hospice Nurse exemplified her selfless nature, as she provided comfort and solace to countless individuals during their most vulnerable moments.
The essence of Judy’s life was her profound love for nature and exploration. Her adventures took her from the serene landscapes of California to the awe-inspiring vistas of the National Parks, each journey fueling her soul and inspiring those around her. Judy’s love for travel was more than a pastime; it was a reflection of her lifelong quest for knowledge and her desire to embrace the beauty of the world.
Judy’s loving and compassionate nature was the cornerstone of her existence. She was the embodiment of kindness—a steady friend who was always there for whoever needed her. Her presence was a source of comfort and strength to her cherished sons, Neal Ball and Yancey (Melanie) Register, her adored three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and her devoted nieces, Katherine Harper and Veronica Silver. Judy’s legacy of love continues through them, a testament to the profound impact she had on her family.
Although Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius and Nannie Kirkland Harper, and her husband, Charles Register, the light of her spirit continues to shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched. Her departure from this world is not an end but a transformation—a passage to a place where her kindness resonates eternally.
Judy’s life was a masterclass in empathy and generosity. She demonstrated how to live with an open heart and a boundless capacity to care for others. Her story encourages us to look beyond ourselves, to find the courage to be selfless, and to be a source of unwavering support for our fellow human beings.
Farewell, Judy, our steadfast friend and guiding star. Your journey on earth may have concluded, but the path you’ve illuminated with your kindness continues to guide us toward a brighter tomorrow. Your memory will forever be a cherished melody in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know you.
Madaline Arrant Youngblood was welcomed by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 19, 2025, after a brief illness.
Madaline was born on November 21, 1933 to Ernest P. and Beulah Murphy Arrant. Following her graduation from Abbeville High School, she fell in love and married Motes Youngblood. They planted roots in Montgomery, Alabama, where they welcomed three children together.
A devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, Madaline took great pride in caring for her family and raising her children. Upon Motes’ retirement, the couple moved to Troy, Alabama and later settled in Dothan.
Madaline embodied the essence of a true “Southern Lady,” quiet, gentle, and selflessly dedicated to the care of others. She is fondly remembered by loved ones as “always seeing the glass half-full,” viewing the world through a lens of grace and kindness. She was known for always speaking life-giving words, a testimony to her compassionate and merciful spirit.
Beloved by all who knew her, Madaline enjoyed rich relationships both at church and at home. She treasured the simple things in life, gospel music, The Lawrence Welk Show, delicious meals and especially dessert! She valued good manners and hospitality, as reflected in her kind and gracious interactions with others.
Even toward the end of her time on earth, Madaline concerned herself with the well-being of others, offering her own bed to her overnight sitters and minimizing her needs for their benefit. As her health declined, her kind and gracious disposition remained. She recently remarked to her daughter that she had “so much to be thankful for.”
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her spouse, Clifton Motes Youngblood; a sister, Beverly Beach; a special niece, Adria Arrant Dansby; a grandson, Marshall Meredeth; and a dear companion, Hugh Weatherly.
She is survived by her children, Pam (Phillip) Meredeth of Dothan, Cliff (Dot) Youngblood of Goshen and Lynn Youngblood of Gulf Breeze, FL; her grandchildren, Angie (Alex) Long, Mason Meredeth and Matthew (Hayden) Youngblood; four great-grandchildren; her brothers, Jimmy (Judy) Arrant of Abbeville and Ernie (Trisha) Arrant of Birmingham; and many special nieces and nephews.
The family is deeply appreciative to Dr. Paola Bass for the many years of love and excellent medical care given to our mother.

Carmen Martir Arana, a remarkable woman whose legacy is etched in the hearts of those she touched. Born on August 1, 1928, in the scenic town of Lares, Puerto Rico, Carmen’s journey of 96 years came to a peaceful close on January 21, 2025, in Dothan, Alabama.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, in the Puerto Rico National Cemetery in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband.
Carmen was the beloved matriarch of a family that cherished her deeply. She was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Jose B. Martir and Angelina Santiago Martir, her loving husband, Henry Arana, and four siblings who shared in the tapestry of her life. Her spirit lives on through her children, Enrique A. Arana, Angeline Arana, Carmen Arana, Alma I. Arana, and Karan Rodriguez, her 13 grandchildren, and her sole surviving sister, all of whom will continue to honor her memory.
Throughout her life, Carmen was a pillar of strength and a beacon of knowledge. Her career as a Home Economics Teacher allowed her to impart wisdom and skills to countless students, shaping the futures of generations. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as she ventured into business ownership, where her leadership and dedication were evident to all who worked with her.
Carmen’s life was a testament to her unwavering Catholic faith, which guided her every step. She was the epitome of a loving wife and mother, always ensuring that her family was enveloped in care and affection. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, where no guest could leave without the comforting offer of a cup of coffee—a simple act that symbolized her hospitality and generous spirit.
Those who knew Carmen would describe her as loving, faith-filled, and gentle—a woman whose serene demeanor belied the strength of her character. Her influence extended beyond the confines of her home and into the community, where she was respected and admired for her commitment to her faith and family.
Mr. Dennis Collins of Malvern passed away Monday, January 20, 2025 at his residence. He was 77.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Memory Hill Cemetery with Rev. Hosea Parker officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.
Mr. Collins was born August 28, 1947 in Geneva County to the late Norman and Oneita Cox Collins. Dennis was a 1965 graduate of Slocomb High School and married his high school sweetheart, Jacqueline Hughes. He spent many years in sales and upon his retirement he began a new adventure, driving a school bus. He loved his school family and adored his bus riders. Dennis was a man of faith and member of Malvern Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a loving husband, an adoring father, and grandfather. Dennis was happiest when spoiling his grandchildren, serving others, and driving his school bus.
In addition to his parents, his loving wife, Jacqueline “Jackie” Collins; and a brother, Jimmy Ned Collins, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include his son, David Collins (Mandy); grandchildren: Stone Collins (Marissa), and River Collins; great granddaughter, Vivien Collins; and other extended family and friends.
ABBEVILLE. . .Barbara Campbell Price, a resident of Abbeville, died early Monday evening, January 20, 2025, at her home. She was 81.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 24, 2025, at Sardis Baptist Church with Reverend George Bryan officiating. Entombment will be at a later date in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M. Friday in the church sanctuary. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

Barbara Price was born and reared in Barbour County, near Clio, daughter of the late Huey Campbell and Louise Welch Campbell. She was a graduate of Clio High School and attended Wallace Community College where she received an Associates Degree in Business. Barbara lived in Henry County all her adult lifetime. She was a member of Sardis Baptist Church. Mrs. Price worked with her husband and sons in the operation of Price Farms. She was preceded in death by a brother, Benny Frank Campbell.
Surviving relatives include her husband of sixty-two years, Thomas Floyd “Bib” Price; four sons, Clay Price, Jon Price (Michelle), Jarrell Price (Jaime), and Cary Price (Kellie), all of Abbeville; grandchildren, Sarah Grace Quinlan (Devin), Parker Hyatt, Hudson Price, Caleb Price (Madison), Katie Price, Karlee Price, Ava Price, Jack Price, and Tucker Price (Caylee); great-grandchildren, Reese Strickland and Bo Price; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Key and a brother-in-law, Jack Price (Nelda).
Serving as active pallbearers will be Barbara’s four sons and Tucker Price and Caleb Price.
