ABBEVILLE. . .Catherine Mobley Phelps Tabor, a resident of Abbeville, died late Saturday night, May 17, 2025, at her home. She was 86.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 22, 2025, in the Judson Baptist Church with Reverend Brandon Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Thursday in the church sanctuary. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

Cathy Tabor was born in Clio, Alabama and was raised in Brundidge, Alabama, daughter of the late Carroll Mobley and Pauline Gulledge Mobley. She lived most of her adult lifetime in Troy before moving to Riverview Forest Estates on Lake Eufaula in 1990. Cathy was a member of Judson Baptist Church and was a former member of Hephzibah Baptist Church in Troy. She was formerly employed by Pike County Bank in Troy and also served as Bookkeeper for Troy Laundry. In earlier years, Cathy was employed by South Central Bell as a Telephone Operator. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wallace Phelps of Troy, two sisters, Hazel Law and Sarah Riley and two brothers, Jerry Mobley and Bill Mobley.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Robert Edward “Bob” Tabor; a daughter, Anita Phelps Bostic (Robert), Montgomery; a son, Michael W. Phelps, Springville, AL; her step-children, Michelle Tabor (Larry Burnside) and Michael Tabor; a sister, Margaret Dubbert, Troy, AL; grandchildren, Amber Grantham (Michael), Avery Phelps and Chaislyn Phelps; great-grandchildren, Rylee Grantham and Parker Grantham.
