ABBEVILLE. . .Charles Lindberg “Lindy” Money, a resident of Abbeville, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 5, 2026, in the Henry County Health & Rehabiliation Facility. He was 97.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 8, 2026, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with John S. Riley and Pastor Randy Greene officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary. Graveside services, with military honors provided by the Bradley-Keller American Legion Post 119, will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery.

Lindy Money was born and raised in Shorterville, son of the late Joseph Greene Money and Lula Buxton Money. At an early age, he enlisted in the U. S. Army and served his country during World War II. He was a graduate of Abbeville High School and attended Holmes Junior College in Goodman, Mississippi where he played football and baseball. He lived in Abbeville most of his adult lifetime. Mr. Money was retired as the owner and operator of Money Pulpwood and was the founder of Money Ford. He was a member of the Abbeville Methodist Church and the Bradley-Keller American Legion Post 119. Mr. Money was instrumental in building the first youth baseball field for the City of Abbeville and establishing the Abbeville Recreation Department. He was an avid golfer and was a former President of the Alabama Left Handed Golf Association. Mr. Money formerly served as a member of the Abbeville City Council.
Mr. Money was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Mills Money, sisters, Mary Lou Hayes and Kathleen Capps, and brothers, Alfred E. “Knocker” Money, James W. “Sport” Money, Coy Money and Joseph Hawley Money.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Kathy Money Loftin, a son, Charles Mills Money, Sr. (Jane), all of Abbeville; brothers, Reverend Robert E. Money (Sydnor), Knoxville, TN; and Jimmy Money (Lorene), Abbeville; grandchildren, Michelle Emberton (Jeff), Melanie Carlisle (Ashley), Mills Money (Amberly), Matthew Money (Hailey), Mallory Hastings (Dylan), Magill Loftin, Molly Evans (Hugh), Michael Loftin, Maxwell Loftin and Marshall Loftin; great-grandchildren, Hannah (Brian), Eli, Lyla, Lily, Lola, Gracie, Everli, Lillian, Samuel, Merritt, Charley, Linden, Creel, Michael, Mason, Conner and Sylas; great-great-grandchildren, Haley, Holly, Hunter and Rylee Kate.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Mills Money, Matthew Money, Ashley Carlisle, Jeff Emberton, Magill Loftin and Michael Loftin. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Joe Barnes, Leroy Cook and former employees of Money Pulpwood/Charles Money Logging.
