Christine Lewis Bess of Geneva, AL passed away peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2025. She was 87.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, May 22, 2025 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Ricky Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening, May 21, 2025 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
Christine was born in Geneva County, AL on March 18, 1938 to the late Jessie Wilburn and Anna Verdell Brooks Lewis Johnston. In September 1959, she married the love of her life, Jerry Bess. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. During her working career, she was a secretary with Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation and later retired from Reliable to spend time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Bess; four siblings, Farolene Johnson, Anna Baxter, Claude Lewis and Haywood Lewis.
Christine is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Jeremy Bess (Sheila) and Terry Bess; two grandchildren, Kaylee Bess Spann (Ryan) and Lane Bess; three great grandchildren, Macee Grace Spann, Tristen Spann and Mia Spann, all of Geneva, AL; and three siblings, Janice Ellison (LeRoy), Billy Lewis (Linda) and Clarence Lewis (Renee).
