A Few Bible Thoughts For Your Day

Hey Everybody,
It is a hot week, but it is also a blessing to see another day. Here are a few thoughts for your day followed by an invitation.
God has always made it very clear; raising children in the Way of the Lord is not just a suggestion, it is an expectation. If we are to be righteous before God, we must teach our children about Christ, how to obey Him, His blessings to those who do obey Him, and the mansion prepared for us once this life has passed.
The importance that God places on properly raising our children is found all the way back to Moses. After God delivered Israel from bondage, He commanded them to teach their children all He had done for them (Deuteronomy 6:6-7; 11:19). He desired that the generations to come would continue to uphold all His commands. When one generation fails to instill God’s laws in the next, a society quickly declines. Parents have not only a responsibility to their children, but an assignment from God to impart His values and truth into their lives.
I am a parent. I have a seven year-old daughter and a five year-old son. One of the greatest challenges any parent faces, in my opinion, is trying to raise children who are focused on Christ, in the midst of a society that has largely denied Him. It is important that we all work diligently to teach our children about Jesus and the love, forgiveness, and hope that we all can have in Him. We must start today.
Having said all this, I want to close with an invitation. Our VBS at the Enon church starts tonight at 6:30. It will continue Friday at 6:30 and Saturday morning at 9. I would love to see your kids here. We are going to sing, play, be creative, enjoy snacks, and learn about Jesus' love for us. Start making a difference in your child's future now. Don't wait until the "time is convenient" for you. Look briefly at what happens when we procrastinate. "And after some days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, he sent for Paul and heard him concerning the faith in Christ. Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, “Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you ... But after two years Porcius Festus succeeded Felix; and Felix, wanting to do the Jews a favor, left Paul bound" (Acts 24:24-27).
Felix never acted on what he knew was right. That "convenient time" never came. Don't be like Felix. Don't allow your children to be victims of your own procrastination. Give them an opportunity to learn about the love that Jesus offers them. This is an investment that could have life-long results. Come see us, we'd love to have you.
