A Few Bible Thoughts For Your Day

Hey Everybody,
I hope your 4th was great! It is humbling to think of those who have fought for our freedom. To those of you who have served, thank you. Now it is time to get back to the grind. We had another uplifting Lord's day at Enon and I hope this week is just as positive. Here are a few thoughts for your day.
Not My Will, but Yours
Jesus, just before He was to be captured, tried and crucified, prayed to God: "Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done" (Luke 22:42). This was not only the way our Lord prayed; it was His whole way of life. He said, "I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me" (John 6:38). What a different world this would be if all of us lived with that attitude!
The world's woes began because Adam and Eve chose the pattern, "Not Your will, but mine, be done." In fact, all of man's problems today result from that same attitude. It is the root of all sin, and it is the cause of all of our misery. The Lord exhorts us, "Just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise" (Luke 6:31). That is living by the rule, "Not my will, but Yours, be done."
Let's make this a better world, starting with ourselves, submitting to His will and living as the Lord Jesus has set us the pattern.
Have a great week!
