Hey Everybody,
I hope your week has been positive. I also hope your weekend is lining up the way you want. Please plan to join us Sunday. We will finish our series on "The Real Thing. How To Be A Genuine Christian In A World Of Counterfeits."
For today, here is a little Q & A.
The Question:
Dear Brother: I have a problem. Thoughts come to my mind which I don't mean to think. They cause me to be very sorrowful. Each time I have these evil thoughts I ask God to forgive me. But I would like to overcome this. Give me some sound advice.
The Answer:
I would offer some simple suggestions to help. "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things" (Phil. 4:8). God knows it is always easier to think the worst instead of the best. So, God tells us to focus our thoughts (to dwell on) those things that are good. Spend part of your day practicing this. Sit and list (on paper or in your mind) the good things God has brought into your life. When you count your blessings and fill your mind with the worthy things, there is less room and time for evil to take root.
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect" (Rom. 12:2). Next, I would tell you to be changed by having your mind renewed. Paul tells us to prove what God wants by doing what is good and acceptable and mature. So, spend some time dwelling on the good and then spend time doing good. When your focus is positive and God oriented, God will transform your mind.
I hope this helps.
Have a great weekend!! Come See Us, We'd Love To Have You!!
