Dothan, AL – On October 16th, VOICES for Alabama's Children will be hosting its Dothan 2012 Alabama Kids Count Regional Meeting at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center.

These meetings are open to everyone and will give attendees the opportunity to discuss the latest research in child well-being, recent activities in Alabama and possible solutions to current problems in Houston and the surrounding counties. Participants will also be able to share their concerns and priorities to help shape policy and learn about a new way to connect with others across the state to make children a greater priority.

According to the recently released Annie E. Casey Foundation national 2012 KIDS COUNT Data Book, Alabama ranks 45th in the nation in child well-being. VOICES is looking to improve the lives of the state’s children by traveling to each region of Alabama over the next two months to present this data and find out which issues are important in each community.

The Dothan meeting will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This year, VOICES is offering special conference pricing for VOICES members and free admission for nonmembers who wish to join. Conference includes lunch, break and handouts. CEUS are available. The meeting is open to everyone, although space is limited so registration is required.

To be a part of the discussion, you may register on our website: www.alavoices.org or call Kristi Gash for more information: 334-213-2410.

VOICES for Alabama’s Children is a statewide non-profit who works to ensure the well-being of Alabama’s children through research, public awareness and advocacy.
