Monday April 20th Cottonwood students took to the streets of Cottonwood to help clean their community. A total of 81 students and 20 to 30 parents and teachers came out to help. Today we find out our kids will be made to make this day up next Friday, May 1st. Even after all the attention this received from the media, Mr. Pitchford will make them go to school to make this day up. SHAME ON YOU. These kids learned in one day working for their community more than they will learn in one day of school. It teachers them to love and be their for others. They exceeded our expectations that day and deserve not to make this up. We should try to appreciate the good kids do by honoring th e good they do. Mr. Pitchford please reconsider and show you care.

If you have a job, you can't call out to help clean up after a storm. I wasn't the kids fault they couldn't be at school that day, but when a day of school is missed school wide it has to be made up. Yes the kids learned a valuable lesson in community service, but community service is above and beyond what you what you are supposed to do, not instead of your regularly required duties. You may not learn all of life's lessons in a class room, but you do learn things that make you appear more intelligent when posting an article on the internet (like proof reading and the difference between there and their.)
