The Dothan Civitan Club celebrates its 55th Anniversary on Thursday, June 14. In 1957 local businessmen saw the need for a service club in Dothan and the club was formed. While many things have changed since it was first chartered, the club’s primary focus has always been to help those with physical and developmental disabilities. Through the years, the Dothan Civitan Club has provided assistance to many individuals and like minded groups in the Dothan area, including Vaughn Blumberg Services, The Salvation Army, and LifeSavers Therapeutic Ranch. The club’s motto is “Builders of Good Citizenship” and all members, at any point in the clubs existence, have shared the common goal of bettering their community.
