Henry County Department of Human Resources encourages all youth ages 5-18 years old residing in Henry County to enter this year’s poster contest for Foster Care Awareness.
The contest is being held in celebration of National Foster Care Awareness month in May.
Each poster will be judged on creativity, overall visual appeal and the strength in which it illustrates:
Open Your Heart Open Your Home
Poster entries are being accepted now and will be displayed in public places throughout the year.
Eligibility and Rules
Entry is open to all students in grades kindergarten through twelfth grades and must be the original work of the student. The following information is needed on the back of each poster: Name, Address, Telephone Number, School, Grade and Teacher. All these items must be included, and if not, the poster will be disqualify
There are four categories of competition: K - 2 grades, 3 - 5 grades, 6-8 grades and 9-12 grades.
Posters will reflect the theme:

The size should be a minimum of 16 by 20 inches. Only Poster board or foam board will be accepted. Any items can be used such as pen and pencil, crayon, watercolor, ink, oil. Three-dimensional posters such as gluing products on to a poster will be also be allowed. Each student is required to complete an information form and attach it to each poster entry. Criteria for judging includes: creativity, originality, neatness, overall appearance and relevance to the theme.
All posters become the property of Henry County DHR and artists must agree to allow them to be displayed in public locations during the year. The posters will not be returned. Posters will be accepted from April 9, 2012 until 3 p.m., April 30, 2012. For more information call Kim Arnold at Henry Co DHR 334-585-4121. Winners will be announced on Friday May 4th.
Prizes will be awarded for First Place , Second Place and Honorable mention in each age group, and also the teacher with the most posters per age group.
