EF Foundation for Foreign Study, a nonprofit organization that pairs foreign exchange students with qualified host families, is seeking out local families in the Wiregrass area to host students for the 2013-2014 school year. Phillip Tyson Reed, regional coordinator for the organization, said, “EF Foundation is one of the largest and oldest organizations that promote foreign exchange in America. We are looking for host families that are willing to share their lives with our students and make an impact in their lives. We want families that interested in learning more about other cultures while sharing their own culture and family traditions.” EF Foundation sponsor more than 2700 from over 25 countries every year.
In addition to seeking host families, the organization is seeking out local area coordinators – referred to as International Exchange Coordinators – to work with exchange students and host families. Reed notes that area coordinators are needed in Dothan, Andalusia, Enterprise, Eufaula, Troy, and surrounding areas including Florida and Georgia. International Exchange Coordinators recruit host families and work to match them with the right family. They also provide support to area schools, the students, and the host family throughout the exchange period.
If you would be interested in hosting a student or working as an International Exchange Coordinator with EF Foundation, please contact Phillip Tyson Reed, Regional Coordinator, at [email protected], (334) 237-3994, or contact EF Foundation at www.effoundation.org.
