LIONS CLUB MEMBERS PROVIDE SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY
(Dothan, June 14, 2014) -- The Greater Dothan Area Lions Club recently served the community by cleaning up the service club sign which identifies many volunteer organizations serving the Dothan area. This volunteer activity occurred at S. Oates St. and E. Inez Rd. Completion of the Lions club service project is a benefit to the community because it turned an overgrown eyesore into a clean and attractive reflection of the strength in pride that the represented volunteer organizations in Dothan provide to their community.
According to Daryl McDaniel, club vice president and project chairperson of the Greater Dothan Area Lions Club, “our members wanted to perform a hands-on project which benefits our community. We asked and gained permission from the city and the ADOT to perform the work. Being a newly chartered club, this project served as a great beginning of more volunteer services to come.
Lions meet the needs of local communities and the world through the volunteerism of 1.35 million members –who perform community service globally in 208 countries. Worldwide, Lions are different in many ways, but share a cored belief; community is what we make it.
The Greater Dothan Area Lions Club has 21 members and growing and meets weekly on Fridays at noon. For more information or to get involved with the GDA Lions, please contact Nancy Maloney, membership director at 334-380-2054 or email [email protected].
