Montana Street Magnet School PTO
September 12, 2012
Dear Community Resident,
As we all are very aware, one of the keys to a successful community revolves around the offering of a quality educational system. Here in Dothan, we are blessed to have an educational system that is “second to none”. We know that each of you have dedicated your time, energy and effort into making our educational system even better and for this we are most appreciative. Therefore, the PTO of Montana Street Magnet School would like to extend to you a special invitation so that you can see “firsthand” that your efforts are paying off. Montana was recognized as a Blue Ribbon School for 2010 and it was because of community involvement that helped us achieve this goal.
On Friday, September 21, 2012, Montana Magnet will be hosting its 12th annual Learn-A-Thon. This event is a theme based learning event where all of the children in the school will get to spend the entire day learning about the specially selected theme. The theme for this year’s event is “Learning around the World”. In conjunction with this event, the children have also done their part by spending the last two weeks soliciting donations from friends and family members throughout the community. Through this event the Montana Magnet PTO hopes to bring in some new funds which will be put back into the school. Last year, we put over $60,000.00 back into our school from this event.
We would like to invite each of you to join us on Friday and to go through the four learning centers with the students. Each learning center will have a twelve-minute skit put on by some very special “parent-actors”. These “parent-actors” have spent the last two months learning their lines and preparing to make this a special event. You would be remiss if you missed out on School Board member Chris Maddox as Napoleon Bonaparte. As well as many parents as we journey through Japan, France, Africa, and India. If you can attend, you will need to meet in the Lobby of Montana Magnet by 9:55 am. It will take a little over an hour to view all four learning stations so you should be completely finished no later than 11:15 am.
We certainly hope that you can come out and join us for this very special day. We hope that this will show each of you just a small piece of the wonderful things that are going on in the Dothan City School system.
Sincerely,
Kandy Groover,
Montana VP And Learn a Thon Chair
Sue Clark Principal
