On August 4 the Associated Press released an article about sexual abuse in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS, Mormon). The article involves a case in Arizona where church officials covered up years of child sexual abuse. Similar sexual abuse has been reported to have taken place at the LDS church located at Ross Clark Cir in Dothan. The alleged abuse occurred over a two-year period, beginning in 2012, and involved the rape of a child by a clergy member. Lack of physical evidence and no other corroborating victim’s testimonies has made this case a challenge for law enforcement. The accused remains a prominent member in the Dothan community. This letter is requesting information from the public regarding any allegations of sexual abuse at the LDS church in Dothan. Alabama law requires members of the clergy to report cases of abuse. The LDS church must be held accountable to protect future victims. Please email [email protected] with information.
