Celebration of Life services for Mrs. Gaither will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in Ozark First United Methodist Church with Reverends Michael Sigler and Bobbi Lassiter officiating.  The family will receive friends and family from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. in the church sanctuary.  Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Interment will be in the Gardens of the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the “Organ Fund” at Ozark First United Methodist Church or to the church located at 167 E. Broad Street, Ozark, AL 36360.

Mrs. Gaither was born September 14, 1932 in Pensacola, Florida to Mr. Fred Loftin and Mrs. Cara Balkcom Loftin. She was raised in Fairhope, Alabama and graduated from Fairhope High School and Huntingdon College.  On August 2, 1953, she married Dr. Billy D. Gaither.

For almost 66 years she served as a pastor’s wife in the United Methodist Church.  Her life was filled with love and service.  In the local churches they served, she sang in the church choirs, taught and attended Sunday School classes, and participated in the women’s groups.  She never met a stranger.  Her out-going and friendly personality was brightened by her winsome and fun sense of humor.  She graced every place she went.

One of her favorite books was “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein.  It was a trademark on her full and bright life.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Billy D. Gaither; two daughters, Ms. Kimberly Jones of Tallahassee, Florida and Mrs. Hope Stockton (Richard) of Auburn, Alabama; three grandchildren, Cole Stockton, Eric Jones, and Jessica Jones.  She is also survived by three great-grandchildren; a loving sister, Mrs. Edna Aldridge (Rex) of Robertsdale, Alabama; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
