Dear Community Family, Join us in celebrating our community with the first, annual, Neighborhood Day! This event is scheduled for April 14, 2012 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Chickasaw Street in front of First Missionary Baptist Church. The theme is “Better Together”. The event will include food, music, ZumbaFest, kid’s zone, informational booths, workshops, and a vendor/business bazaar. This event is sponsored by the neighborhood churches of the historical "Baptist Bottom" Community. The purpose is for churches, businesses and organizations to engage neighborhood residents to promote a stronger and safer “Baptist Bottom” neighborhood. We estimate that approximately 300 or more neighborhood and community members will be in attendance. We invite you to set up an information booth of your business or agency services to the community or just come and be a part of this great celebration. Also, if your organization has an outreach teams, this would be a great opportunity to conduct an outreach project or service learning activity in the Baptist Bottom area, as this is also the designated Spirit of Service Day.If you have any additional questions concerning the Neighborhood Day or would like to participate, please feel free to contact me at 334-791-4580 or Aisha Freeman at 205-563-8609. We appreciate and look forward to your participation!Sincerely,Erika FaulkDothan Community Empowerment Project “Communities work better (students perform better, crime rates are lower, kids are safer, people live longer) when neighbors know one another better.”–Robert D.
