If you've been to the Dothan Area Botanical Garden recently, you probably didn't notice a dedicated group of people who are working to bring you great plants at great prices. These folk are the "plant parents", so-called because they each "parent" a category of plants from seed to sale. The plant parents and other master gardeners propagate plants from seeds and cuttings and maintain plants throughout the year in preparation for the Wiregrass Master Gardener Association (WMGA) spring and fall plant sales. Working in the greenhouse and nursery area, they prune, weed, water and fertilize. They monitor temperatures, humidity, and soils to ensure the plants grow up healthy, so that plant lovers can buy and enjoy them. They're experts who are willing to advise customers on how to keep the plants healthy. So come to the WMGA Plant Sale and seek out the master gardeners who will help you make wise plant-buying decisions. Many hard to find native and heirloom plants will be available.
