Two weeks in the life of a small-town Oklahoma Greaser tells a story that has impacted generations of students. 14-year-old Ponyboy Curtis struggles with right and wrong in a society in which he believes that he is an outsider. He comes-of-age learning that pain and hurt don’t distinguish between the haves and the have-nots.
The Student Company of Southeast Alabama Community Theatre presents The Outsiders, the heroic story of belonging, friendship, and maintaining hope in the face of struggle. SEACT Program Manager Billy Hutto believes the story has endured since its original publication in 1967 because, "It is a powerful reminder of what young people encounter every day in a hopefully less violent, but still dramatic sense."
The Outsiders performs Friday, Oct. 25 at 7:00 PM and Saturday, Oct. 26 at 2:00 PM at the Cultural Arts Center, located at 909 S. Saint Andrews Street in Dothan. Tickets are available for purchase in advance at SEACT.com for $22 each. The box office opens 60 minutes before curtain. Seating begins 30 minutes before curtain.
Southeast Alabama Community Theatre (SEACT) has a mission to enrich the cultural lives of Wiregrass residents through the presentation of high quality theatre, to provide creative opportunities to talented individuals to perform on stage and behind the scenes, and to introduce the theatrical experience to school-aged children. SEACT is a 501(c) organization and depends on the support of its community to bring theatre to life in the Wiregrass. The organization is funded through season tickets, sponsorships, advertising, and donations.
