The Wiregrass Master Gardeners are hosting Landmark Park’s 1st Annual Heirloom Seed Swap on Saturday, February 18, 2012. Heirloom plants are cultivars commonly grown in past years, but not used in today’s modern large-scale agriculture. Heirloom vegetables and flowers keep their traits through open pollination and provide gardeners with a much wider variety of food (and flowers) not readily available by purchasing seed packets from the local store. With the agricultural history and diversity of crops in the Wiregrass Area, we hope encourage the distribution/collection of many heirloom seed varieties throughout the area. If you are interested in heirloom seeds but do not have any to swap, PLEASE JOIN US ANYWAY! Landmark Park and other donors have seed WE WILL GIVE YOU so that you may participate. Please visit www.landmarkpark.com for more information. Call 334-794-3452 to register. We hope to see you on the 18th.
