The leadership Institute for Retirees will provide training in senior, issues, benefits, programs and challenges. This will be the seventh exciting year for the Leadership Institute, through which SARCOA is building a community of volunteer of leaders and advocates.
Volunteers will attend seven free sessions to be held at Troy University in Dothan, over four weeks, starting August 6. All sessions are on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Certificates of Completion will be awarded at the end of the course at graduation. No academic credit will be given. Refreshments will be provided each day. Leadership Institute graduates will join previous graduates who continue to volunteer with SARCOA for various projects, programs and initiatives.
Retirees want to make a difference in their communities and bring with them many years of experience and skills. These are the people who will enjoy being a part of the Leadership Institute. Volunteering to help others is the key to healthy, fulfilling and meaningful lives. It keeps people involved. After retirement, people need a purpose in life which gets them going and keeps them engaged in life. People often do not realize the impact they have, or can have, on the lives of others.
The Leadership Institute is sponsored and funded by SARCOA. Troy University, Dothan is a co-sponsor. SARCOA is the Area Agency on Aging for the seven counties of southeast Alabama.
For more information or to register contact SARCOA at 793-6843 or 1-800-239-3507. Pre-registration is required. Don't delay! Class size is limited.
