“The Voice” Reality Television Music Star to Perform in Dothan
Fans of NBC’s reality music television show, “The Voice,” are sure to recognize the name Joe Bommersbach, who goes by the moniker “Blind Joe”. The 32 year old North Dakota native took the show by storm with his compelling rendition of the country classic “If It Hadn’t Been for Love.” Joe became a “four chair turner” when all four of the show’s judges gave their glowing approval of his audition. He further honed his musical acumen by collaborating with Blake Shelton, a country music legend who happens to be one the show’s most popular judges. Although Joe made it into the late rounds of the competition, he was eliminated from the show just last week.
While many aspiring singers might accept the notion that the odds were stacked against them after being eliminated from “The Voice,” anyone who knows Joe’s story and his magnificent voice, knows that he can beat insurmountable odds. Joe was born three months premature and was given a 98% chance of dying. Shortly after birth, he was exposed to harsh hospital lighting, which left him blind. None of these obstacles stopped him from learning to play guitar and developing his amazing vocal chops. He has gone on to thrive as the rowdy, non-stop rebel soul that is Blind Joe. Joe has shared the stage with numerous top local and regional acts, as well as national recording artists such as David Allan Coe, Craig Morgan, John Anderson, James Otto, Buddy Guy, Bret Michaels of Poison, Collin Ray, and many more. With his quick witted sense of humor, original country music, and energetic stage presence, Blind Joe is singing his way quickly into the hearts and minds of people all over the United States. In fact, it is only by happenstance that he finds himself performing at Dothan’s Blue Bar & Grill on Saturday, November 21st. His national tour with the country/rock bank Elisium had a scheduled performance in Tallahassee, Florida and Joe thought it would be a real to bring the tour to a smaller, more intimate setting. Both Joe and Elisium will be performing. Dothan is in for quite a treat!
