David Jasper Martin, age 82, went home to be with the Lord on April 26, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026, in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva, AL. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Born on January 26, 1944, David lived a full and meaningful life defined by hard work, humor, and devotion to his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. David retired from Fort Rucker, where he worked as a skilled helicopter mechanic. Prior to that, he spent many years as a truck driver, a job that suited his love for the road and storytelling.

David never met a stranger. He had a gift for conversation, always ready with a story and a laugh that could brighten any room. He also had a deep appreciation for old cars, enjoying their craftsmanship and the memories they carried, often sharing that passion with those around him. His sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Spicer “Pat” Martin; his children Debbie Kerstein (Rich), Kristi Thames (Mikie), Jennifer Martin, Amanda Wright (Rob), Tonya Spicer; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother James Martin (Pam), extended family, and many cherished friends.

David was preceded in death by parents, Leamon and Virginia Martin, and son-in-law, Jimmy Hewell.

His family finds comfort in knowing he lived a life full of love and laughter and that his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

“His Lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant… enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” – Matthew 25:23
