DOTHAN. . .Dena Sue Crumpton, a former resident of Dothan, died early Sunday morning, May 11, 2025, in Noland Hospital Dothan. She was 79.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in the Providence Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 4850 Chana Creek Road, Tallassee, Alabama, with Elder Clayton Nowell officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church, P.O. Box 401, Headland, AL 36345.
Dena Crumpton was born in Birmingham and was reared in Elmore County, near Eclectic, Alabama. She was a member of Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Headland. Dena was formerly employed by Dr David Ghostley as Office Manager in Dothan. In earlier years, she was employed as a Mortgage Banker. Dena was preceded in death by her father, Elder T. L. Crumpton, her mother, Ellowise Otwell Crumpton Farris, her step-father, Elder L. L. Farris, a daughter, Karman Wingate Swords, a brother, Charles Wesley “Chuck” Crumpton, and a sister, Susie Hyde.

Surviving relatives include a granddaughter, Dena Michelle Swords, and a grandson, Terry Swords, IV, both of Columbia; great-grandchildren, Aria Reeder and Miracle Reeder; her son-in-law, Terrell Swords, III, Columbia; and a special friend, Judith Price, Blakely, GA.
