
Mr. Donald “Big Don” Ray Blevins, 91, a resident of Dothan, passed on Monday, July 7, 2025, at his residence.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jeffrey Lane Blevins officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing.
The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to services at Glover Funeral Home. A reception will follow the services at the Basketcase, 228 S. Oates Street, Dothan, Alabama 36301. Flowers will be accepted.
Mr. Blevins was born April 2, 1934, in Attalla the son of Mack Carl Blevins and Addice Ruth Hughes Blevins. He was a 1952 graduate of Etowah County High School in Attalla and received his B.A. degree in business from Jacksonville State University in 1959. Donald served two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for W.T. Grants as a manager until 1973 when he moved to Dothan as manager with West Building Materials for 23 years, retiring in 1996. He attended Westwood Presbyterian Church, PCA
Donald was predeceased in death by his parents, first wife, Doris Patterson Blevins, a brother Joe Mack Blevins; 4 sisters Mary Lou McConnell, Carolyn Schibella, Nan Cadenhead and Cathy Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Sara M. Blevins of Dothan; 2 daughters Donna Balzaratti (Rick) of Dothan and Gina Blevins Henderson (Stuart) of Birmingham; 4 sisters, Bobbie Harrelson of Huntsville, Linda Denton of Decatur, Joyce Culp of Gadsden, and Cindy Rich of Charlottesville, VA; 3 grandchildren Alex Bell (Samantha) of Gulf Breeze, FL, Zack Bell(Michelle) of Navarre, FL, and Trent Henderson of Birmingham; 4 great-grandchildren, Olivia, Hudson, Ezra and Hazel; four step-children, Rick Twine of Dothan, Melanie Harris of Wilmington, N.C., Schuyler Bratt of Dothan, and U.S. Army Captain Samuel Bratt of Fort Campbell, KY.
