HEADLAND. . .Doris Ellis Saxon, a resident of Headland, passed away Friday night, October 9, 2026, at her home. She was 84.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 13, 2026, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend T. J. Allen officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
Mrs. Saxon was born and raised in the Rocky Head community, near Ariton, daughter of the late Kero T. Ellis and Myrtle Hyatt Ellis. She lived in Kinsey before moving to Headland in 1995. Mrs. Saxon was an active member of Hebron Baptist Church where she was also a member of the church choir and the W.M.U. She was formerly employed by Tots & Toddlers in Kinsey for many years. In later years, she worked at Training Wheels Daycare in Headland. Mrs. Saxon was preceded in death by her husband, David Edward Saxon, a daughter, Kelly Ellenburg, a son, Jerry Oliver Williams, and a brother, Windol “PeeWee” Ellis.
Surviving relatives include her son, David Dwayne Saxon (Bobbie), Headland; step-daughters, Laney Saxon Giles (James), Malvern, AL; and Lisa Saxon Engler (Scott), Williamson, GA; two brothers, Malgum C. Ellis, Ariton, AL; and Jack Ellis, Columbus, GA; seventeen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren.
