During her lifetime, she and her sister, Frankie, were extremely close.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Roy D. Oaks, Sr.; (her stepson) Roy Oaks, Jr. and Marie; daughter Cathy Oaks Ashlock and husband Tommy; parents John Frank Lamb and Lonnie Lee Fulton Lamb; brothers Fred Lamb (Freddie Mae Armstrong) and Lawrence E. Lamb (Juanita Burnham); sisters Virginia Lamb Lawler (Herman) and Frankie Lamb Skipper (Louie Skip); nephews Richard Lamb, Fred Lamb, Jr. and Sylvia Lawler, wife of Eugene Lawler.

Dorothy is survived by her niece Gloria Lamb Lastinger (Les); nephews Vinson Lamb (Emily), Eugene Lawler, Roane Lawler (Lawanda), Bobette Lamb (wife of Fred Lamb, Jr.) and Charlene Lamb (wife of Richard Lamb).  Dorothy is also survived by her great grandson, Lee Ashlock (Erica) and their three children; and many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Bluff Springs Baptist Church and the “Ma Addison’s” Sunday School Class and the Golden Achievers.

Dorothy retired as the office manager in 1986 from Dixie Service, Inc., in Opelika, AL.  She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club for several years.  While living in Opelika, she was an active member of the Pilot’s Club of Lee County and volunteered at the concession stand at the Auburn Football Stadium every home game.  She was an avid Auburn fan.

Dot and Roy lived in Opelika, AL, where Roy retired from Davis Dyer Supply Company.  After the death of her husband, Dorothy moved to her childhood home near Ashford, AL, and lived on a small farm which her father purchased in 1931.

She graduated from Ashford School in 1939.  While in school she played on the girls’ basketball team.  Her husband taught her how to play golf, and she played until she was ninety.  She loved the outdoors.  She had a green thumb and could bring an almost dead plant back to life.

She liked to make jelly and was always willing to help anyone who needed her help.  She also helped her nephew, Roane, operate his business.

Dorothy was a very resilient person.  After she was one hundred years old, she beat Covid twice, pneumonia twice and a broken leg.

A special thank you to the nurses and staff at Westside Terrace.
