DOTHAN. . .Durwood Alfred “Danny” Nowell, Jr. D.M.D. a resident of Dothan, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 24, 2026, in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. He was 81.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 29, 2026, in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan, with Pastor Chuck Locke officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

Danny Nowell was born and raised near Headland, son of the late Durwood Alfred Nowell and Maureen DeShazo Nowell. He was a 1962 graduate of Headland High School. Danny received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from the University of Alabama and a Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War era as a Dentist and was discharged as a Major. Danny established his practice of General Dentistry in 1974 in Dothan. He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Alabama Dental Association and American Dental Association and formerly served as President of the Dothan Optimist Club. Danny was preceded in death by a sister Starla Nowell Schroll, and two brothers, William Kenneth Nowell and Ronny Nowell.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Tiffany Nowell, British Virgin Islands; a son, Sean Nowell (Kirsten), New York City, New York; a brother, Benny Nowell (Cynthia), Inlet Beach, FL.
