Abbeville 911 service was unavailable on Wednesday, Sept 19, 2012. One of the employees had muted the phone. Jeanette Green from 105 Sandra Drive, Abbeville, Al. suffered extreme shortness of breath. Her husband, Charles Green tried to call 911 and received no answer. He let the phone ring 3 times before he hung up. During the time that he was putting his wife in the car, he received no call back. He had to drive his wife to the paramedics station there in Abbeville for aid. Jeanette was suffering from Congestive Heart Failure. When thier son called the police station in Abbeville, the following day to inquire about the 911 service, he spoke to a supervisor of 911, Dawn. She acted unconcerned and informed their son that the phone had been put on MUTE! They had record of the call but could not hear the phone ring to answer it. 911 service in Abbeville uunreliable. Citizens of Abbeville beware. When contacting the Mayor's office, Mayor Blalock said that he would look into it

I understand your concern and you complaint has merit. However why don't you follow up with the city council if your complaint is not addressed in what you deem a timely manner. I'm sure the dispatcher who placed the phone on MUTE didn't do it intentionally, at least I hope not.But to come on here and publicly attack the City of Abbeville is childish. Instead of calling and ranting, submit a formal complaint IN WRITING.
