The Modern "Ant and Grasshopper"One summer's day a Grasshopper was hopping, chirping and singing. An Antpassed by carrying an ear of corn."Come and play," said the Grasshopper, " My unemployment has kicked inand I have 95 more weeks before I have to go back to work.""I am getting food for the winter and preparing for my future," said theAnt."Why bother about winter or the future?" said the Grasshopper; "We havefood stamps, section 8 housing, and government retirement." But the Antcontinued its toil. Winter came, the Grasshopper and the "99" other grasshoppers started aprotest demanding the ants distribute the corn they had collected. Thetax man came and took a very large portion to redistribute to thegrasshoppers who had refused to work."Working was foolish," said the grasshopper. Other insects saw that theyalso did not have to work because Government would take care of them. The next year the ant took his grain business overseas. The Governmentcollected less corn and struggled to keep an ever growing segmentfed and happy.Moral:If someone is going to take a large portion of what you produce, movewhere your hard earned produce will not be taken from you.
