My first experience with a consignment shop will be my last! I recently took an item to a consignment shop on Montgomery Hwy.The item was brand new never worn still in the box with original packing (value $100.00). I trusted the shop owner with my item wanting to get a little money backout of the item.I did as instructed and checked the website weekly to see if my item had sold.So I waited for my 90 days to pass and I returned to the consignment shop to pick up my item. The clerk said my item had not sold then stated that items were sometimes stolen.(Red Flag) This being said before they looked for my item.I was then told that I could go look for my item in the store,Not let me see if we can locate your Item for you.Well what a surprise my item was missing! The store owner then informed me she was not responsible for lost items, It was in my contract. So if they like your item they can take it and claim it was stolen.I wonder how many people has had this happen to them?

Snicker, I believe you and "Kitten" are talking about two different stores. I , also, know which one you, and, the other's are referring to, and, I would not do business with her, either. She is the one closer into town. The store "Dirtdevil" had the bad experience with is further down, closer to Shops on the Circle. And, I understand the owner has tried to make things right with her, but, to no avail. Like, Kitten said, all shoplifters are not caught. Sounds , to me, this was blown way out of proportion. And, by the way, Snicker, use your spell check, dear. snickered - Apr 07 2012 12: AM 19:26
kitten you might think it is petty and boring but obviousley you have not been stole from when you do business with someone you dont want someone to steal from you when i went in the store there was a lady assured me i would get my money she always payed but guess what she DID NOT i made several attempts to get in contact she has yet to return any calls this is not petty it is theft!!!! plaine and simple I hope everyone will be aware of her like I said before you might snickerdoodle one time but she wont do it again!! to me !!!! I can assure you, that the lady that owns the consignment shop IS NOT the lady that owned a kid's party place. She is a very respected lady in this area, and, would never do anything like you described. The shoes were shoplifted, plain and simple. Happens everyday in stores. Some people are caught and some are not.I have, also, done business with her many times, and, have always been treated fairly and have had great results with my consignments.I do know the other store on Montgomery Highway that you are talking about. Never been there, never will. Now, put this to rest. This is petty and is getting boring. ALguy61 - Apr 06 2012 12: AM 11:35
I think it's quite absurd for the shop owner not to be responsible for the items that the shop owner has accepted for resale (agreement or no agreement). If the shop owner has employees, it could be employee theft like we've read and heard about recently at other stores. Personally, I could not run a shop like this. I would feel that it was my responsibility to make sure the items left with me were safe and that my customer would be pleased with my business. Regardless of what agreement was signed and what was on the agreement, I wouldn't want anyone to have a negative feeling toward me or my business for whatever reason. I just might NEED to do business with this person later in life and I don't need to go burning bridges this early in life. It's called the 'cost of doing business.' amazed1 - Apr 06 2012 12: AM 11:05
This sounds exactly like the lady who also has owned some other business in our area, one of them being a kids party place. As for her not being a thief, this is a complete lie. Ask her about paying her employees in cash to avoid paying payroll taxes which is stealing from the government. She always has some sort of justification for the things she does wrong. Ask her about stealing the doors off her previous business. Ask her about having a new business on the South side of town that couldn't even be put in her name because she won't pay her bills. She is a thief, plain and simple. amazed1 - Apr 06 2012 12: AM 10:57
If this is the same lady who owned Pizza Kastle, she is most definately a crook. She steals from the goverment by paying her employees in cash and cheated them on their time worked. You should see the damage she did to the building when she left it, she even stole the doors and fixtures. snickered - Apr 02 2012 12: AM 17:51

Lady I am not afraid it will hurt my business. I have my business up for sale . It's been running in the Dothan Eagle for the last 2 weeks. I started trying to sell it in October of last year but didn't advertise it in the newspaper until recently. If you had accused me face to face without anyone else hearing it I would be just as upset. Like I said before "I have never stolen anything in my life". You don't even know me but I have a lot of consignors that know I am honest. You must be thinking about how you would run a consignment store. I offered to pay you for half of the $100.00 you claim the shoes are worth but you didn't want my ^%*&$# money. I didn't steal them nor did they get sold. You can come in anytime and scan my tapes to see if you can see them getting stolen. Douglas - Mar 26 2012 12: AM 04:26
I have been doing business with this shop from day one of opening ! I have never had anything misplaced before. But, not saying that I won't. It happens !! This store is like any other one. You have shoplifters, and, even with a security camera, as in the big stores, you can't catch everyone. The sales associates in this store has always treated me with respect and I have never been in there that they weren't honest, helpful and cordial. Sometimes, as in any store, you just have a bad apple and can't please everyone. littlestorm - Mar 26 2012 12: AM 00:08

To the owner of the consignment shop I don't owe you anything!!!!Nothing I said in my article was a lie.Your store did take an item and claim it was stolen. The only thing you could say was your not responsible because of the contract.ONLY after I posted this article did you contact me to offer anything because you are afraid this will hurt your business but people have the right to know what could happen to them.I'm sure you were hoping I would just quietly walk away but you don't know me.I only wish I could post the 10 ugly messages you left on my answering machine for people to hear.I have also written a letter to the Dothan Eagle. They may or maynot Publish it guess we will have to wait and see. We can keep this going as long as you like! I'm still waiting for you to show up. deadmeat - Mar 23 2012 12: AM 22:50
They probably sold it. littlestorm - Mar 23 2012 12: AM 18:41
I am the owner of that consignment shop and you owe me an apology. I have never stolen anything from anyone and I never will. I told you that I have had a lot of theft and I did not lie about that. I can show you videos of people stealing from my store but I did not get the security system put in (due to the cost) until the end of last year. I can't help it if someone stole your shoes. They were not sold as I looked in my databa se to see if the tag got pulled off and they got rung up under the store account until we could locate who they belonged to. They were not. They were a size 6.5 and I wear and 8.5 and my girls were an 8. I had no need for your shoes and you are wrong to put this on this site just ASSUMING i stole your shoes. I will say it again. I DID NOT STEAL YOUR SHOES. littlestorm - Mar 23 2012 12: AM 18:39
