Edward Earl “Eddy” Yarbrough of Samson, AL passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. He was 73 years old.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 02, 2025 at Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donnie Earles officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, June 01, 2025 from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted.

Eddy was born in Geneva County, AL on August 17, 1951 to the late Willie “AC” and Caron Inez Jones Yarbrough. He graduated from Samson High School in 1971. On June 20, 1974, he joined the US Army, serving four years of active duty. As a Sergeant, he served as a radio operator, heavy equipment and construction operator, tank system mechanic and automated logistics specialist, which took him from Fort Campbell, KY to Germany. Following his four years of active duty, he served in the Alabama National Guard for 25 years, 1 month and 13 days prior to retiring on February 27, 2003. Eddy was employed at Reliable Metal Products for 50 years, retiring on July 12, 2024, as Shipping Supervisor.

Eddy’s family was his life. Growing up with 10 siblings, they all believed in hard work and being supportive of each other. He loved and adored his nieces and nephews, always giving unique birthday and Christmas gifts, mostly wrapped in newspaper. He continued the tradition with the great nieces and nephews, who he loved dearly. They never knew what surprise lay in store for them in those wrapped gifts. Eddy lived a life of dedication and service that left an incredible mark on life and all who were fortunate to have known and loved him. He will be deeply missed and will live on in the hearts of those closest to him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Louise “Lockett” Yarbrough; three brothers, John, Hubert and Terry “Honk” Yarbrough; two brothers-in-law, Donnie H. Carroll and Ray Lolley; aunts and uncles, William and Donice Jones and Charles and Josephine Shehee.

Eddy is survived by siblings, Franklin Jones (Elouise), Emma Lou Carroll, Lannett Weeks (Dwight), Jerry “Pee Wee” Yarbrough (Karen), and Rachel Lolley; two sisters-in-law, Carol Yarbrough, and Linda Yarbrough; 15 nephews and nieces, 24 great nieces and nephews, a host of cousins and friends; special friends, Rickie Dunsworth and Gayle Jolley.

Serving as pallbearers will be Doyle Jones, Jeremy Yarbrough, Eric Jones, Levi Yarbrough, Perry Conner and Ethan Conner.

The family would like to thank Dr. David Arnold, Jamie Johnson NP, Dr. Duke and Centerwell Home Health for their love and compassion shown to Eddy.

The family will be at the home of his sister, Lannett Weeks, 374 Ivywood Dr., Hartford, AL 36344.
