Eleanor Ruth Moring passed away on August 25, 2026, in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 88.
She was born on September 3, 1937, in Newville, Alabama, to the late Johnny Fred Johnson and Inez Kirkland Johnson. Eleanor lived a life marked by kindness, devotion, and steady strength, and she was cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Louie Moring, and by her infant sons, Anthony Stephen Moring and Sammy Ray Moring. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Leo Johnson, George Johnson, Mary Lucy Strickland, and Irell Carter. She is survived by her children, Keith Moring and his wife Jackie, and Tammy Murphy and her husband Ronald. She also leaves behind her siblings, Janice Jones and her husband Nathan, and Arthur Johnson, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will remember her with love.
Eleanor was a proud grandmother to Jason Moring and his wife Mary Kate, Ashley McAnulty and her husband Ryan, Olivia Cline and her husband Wade, and Emily Williams and her husband Asa. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, David Moring, Eleanor McAnulty, Anna Katherine Moring, Cora McAnulty, Vivienne Cline, Murphy Williams, and Palmer Williams. Her family was her pride and joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Eleanor devoted more than 40 years of her life to the banking industry, where she was respected for her work ethic, dependability, and warm manner. Even after retirement, she continued to work part-time because she enjoyed staying busy and being around people. She was truly a people person, and her generous, thoughtful, and selfless nature left a lasting impression on coworkers, friends, and customers alike.
She was a faithful member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, where her presence was appreciated and her faith was evident in the way she lived her life. Eleanor found joy in simple pleasures, especially cooking for those she loved. She was especially known for her dumplings, squash casserole, salmon croquettes, and fresh vegetables from the garden her husband Louie enjoyed cultivating each year. These meals were made with love and became part of the many cherished memories her family will hold close.
Eleanor’s life was one of quiet grace, hard work, and deep devotion to others. She gave freely of herself and made those around her feel valued and cared for. Her family and friends will remember her for her gentle spirit, her warm smile, and the love she shared so generously throughout her life.
Funeral services for Eleanor will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, August 30, 2026 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will received friends from 1 PM until 2 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home.
