ERIC CULVER
NEWVILLE…Eric Lamar Culver, affectionately known as “Mott” or “Big E” to family and friends, transitioned peacefully on September 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of those he held dear.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 12, 2025, at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, with Reverend Eddie Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
The second son of Winnie Pearl Kincey Culver Henderson and the late Freeman Culver, Sr., Eric was born on July 27, 1960. He was a proud 1978 graduate of Headland High School and later continued his studies at Wallace Community College, specializing in sheet metal — a skill that became the foundation of his life’s work. Eric began his professional journey alongside his father at Overhead Roofing Company, where he learned not only the trade but also the values of integrity and dedication. He later joined Marty Robbins Roofing Company, where he became a respected leader in roofing and sheet metal fabrication. For more than 40 years, Eric’s work was marked by excellence, pride, and craftsmanship. He retired in 2022, leaving behind a legacy of skill and perseverance.
A man of deep faith, Eric served faithfully as a Deacon in his church, where he gave his time and energy to serving others. His humility, strength, and devotion to God were evident in his actions and in the love he poured into his church family.
Beyond his career and service, Eric’s greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather — a true protector, provider, and friend. His wisdom was a guiding light, his presence a steady force, and his love unwavering.
A passionate Alabama Crimson Tide fan, Eric never missed a game. His booming “Roll Tide!” could be heard near and far, a sound that reflected both his love for the sport and his loyalty to the things he held dear.
Eric lived a life marked by humility, strength, service, and love. He led by example, gave without hesitation, and touched the lives of all who knew him. His legacy of faith, family, and hard work will continue to inspire generations.
Eric was preceded in death by his father, Freeman Culver, Sr., and his brothers, Maurice Culver and Marion Culver.
He leaves to cherish his memory: son, Rishawn Jackson (Jacquelyn); daughter, Erica Jackson; loving mother, Winnie Pearl Kincey Culver Henderson; brother, Freeman Culver Jr.; grandchildren, Zamaya Jackson, Jakayla Turner, Keziah Jackson, Shaletta Jackson, Jada Borders, and Jayla Borders; great-grandchild, Kyson Jackson; a devoted friend, Sherelle Carter; and a host of nephews, a niece, cousins, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
