A former Headland High School coach was found dead after being reported missing.
Samuel “Sammy” Jackson, 59, was a Henry County Hall of Fame member who played for and graduated from Headland in 1982. He coached at Headland High from 2020-22.
He went missing on Sunday while working as an Uber Eats driver in Fort Valley, Georgia, where he used to coach at the local university.
Jackson was last seen at a Dollar General in the Warner Robbins or Macon area.
While reports indicate he spoke to his wife on Sunday, his wife received a text from his phone around 2 a.m. Monday asking what his Social Security number was.
His vehicle was found in Bonaire. It was unlocked and had items strewn around the seats and floorboard.
It’s currently unclear if foul play is suspected in his death. The investigation is ongoing.
