
Frances Ora Lee Kelley, of Dothan, AL passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, at Southeast Health. Born on January 14, 1934, in Dothan, Alabama, Frances’s life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and her dedication to her family, her business, and her community.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Gertie Watford; beloved husband, Bernell Kelley; and son, Calvin Kelley. She is survived by her children, Diane Howard and Dennis Kelley; grandchildren, Jamie Kelley, BJ Rouse, Chuck and Shelia Kelley; great-grandchildren, Tanner Clayton, Ansley Rouse, Jackie and Ben Perry, and Gage Cowart; and great-great-grandchildren, Eli and Isla Cowart.
Frances’s journey began in the heart of Alabama, where she grew up surrounded by the warmth and charm of Southern hospitality. Her early years in Dothan shaped her into a woman of strength and character, qualities that would define her for the rest of her life.
Her life was one of service and commitment, qualities that she carried into every aspect of her existence. As a business owner, Frances poured her heart into Kelley’s Superette in Rehobeth, Alabama, a family-owned and operated establishment that became a cornerstone of the local community.
Her dedication to service extended beyond her professional life as she was a cherished member of Mt. Enon Baptist Church. Her involvement in the church went beyond mere attendance. She was a servant leader, embodying the church’s mission to love and serve others.
She loved everyone she met and her kindness knew no bounds. Her thoughtfulness was a comfort to those around her and her presence was a source of joy and stability. Ora Lee Kelley’s story is one of a well-lived life and she will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
