
Freddie Paul Money Sr., 70, a life-long resident of Columbia, passed away on, Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, July 28, 2025, at Glover Funeral Home with Reverend Bridgman Harris officiating. A private family burial will follow at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 until 1:15 p.m., prior to the service.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to, Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church, 5871 County Road 65, Shorterville, AL 36373.
Freddie was born October 5, 1954, in Donalsonville, Georgia to the late James Edward & Lucy (Walker) Money. He spent the early years of his life in Columbia and was a 1973 graduate of Houston County High School. After school, he worked as a supervisor for Gates Power Drive for 20 years. Together with his wife, Marilyn, they owned and operated, Marilyn’s Deli in Columbia for 16 years. Most recently, Freddie worked as a school bus driver for the Henry County School System for the last 8 years. Freddie enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and singing karaoke. He was a long-time member and served as a deacon of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his grandchildren, Colby James Money, and Ashley Jordan Baber; his brothers, Jerry Milton Money, Homer Horrace Money, and Kenneth Wayne Money.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marilyn A. Hardy Money of Columbia; his three children, James Edward Money (Loralee) of Columbia, Marilyn Michelle Dobbs (Christopher) of Dale County, and Freddie Paul Money Jr. (Kasey) of Ashford; his eight grandchildren, Brooklyn Saunders (Julius), James Edward Money Jr., Rachel Rochelle Cobb (Chris), Garett Kyle Lisenby, Brent Ashton Lisenby, Gracie Elizabeth Westbrook (Kaleb), Savannah Ann Money, and Katelynn Grace Money; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
