ASHFORD. . . Gary Lynn Elliott, a resident of Cowarts, Alabama, passed away Sunday afternoon, May 3, 2026, at his home surrounded by his children, family, and friends. He was 69.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
Gary Elliott was born and raised in Mt. Sterling, Ohio, son of the late George Walter Elliott and Alma Virginia Clagg Elliott. He formerly lived in Jeffersonville, Ohio, Marco Island, Florida, Lake Seminole, Georgia and Dothan, Alabama before moving to Cowarts in 2014. Gary was currently employed by The Gutterman in Dothan. In earlier years, he was self-employed as a General Contractor in residential construction. Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Ann Johnson, two sisters and six brothers. Gary was known to bring a smile that was contagious, a laugh that was unforgettable and a love for the Ohio State Buckeyes that is unmatched.
Surviving relatives include his daughter, Britney Hensley (Bryce), Wilmington, Ohio; sons, Cain Elliott (Angie), Huber Heights, Ohio, Christopher Elliott, Springfield, Ohio and Michael Allen, LaFollette, Tennessee; a step-daughter, Brooklyn Mullis (Robbie), Ashford; sister, Norma Jean Cloutier, Dothan; grandchildren, Justis, Jaida, Jariah, Juliet, Jrew, Trey, Jodeci, Eli, Eisley, Reese and Colton, Chip and Laura (Ty); great-grandchildren, Khari and Ky; numerous nieces and nephews including his closest nephews, Bart Elliott (Darene’), Dothan; and Matt Elliott (Zhanna), Panama City, FL.
