WICKSBURG. . .George A. Richards, a resident of Wicksburg, passed away Wednesday morning, June 10, 2026, in Noland Hospital Dothan. He was 84.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Friday, June 12, 2026, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Allen Singley officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:30 P.M. Friday at the mortuary in Headland.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Mr. Richards was born in Barbour County and was raised in the Napier Field area, son of the late Arby C. Richards and Georgia Lou Trawick Richards. He lived in Dothan before moving to Wicksburg in 1979. Mr. Richards was retired from Golden Peanut Company in Headland and was formerly employed by Dothan Oil Mill Company in Dothan as Secretary & Treasurer. He was a member of Pilgrim Home Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Richards was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Boyd and Cathy Sprouse and three brothers, Arby C. Richards, William Earl Richards and Johnny Ray Richards.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Edna Hunt Richards; a son, Barry Richards (Darlene Kirkland), all of Wicksburg; brothers, Larry M. Richards (Teresa), Midland City; Michael A. Richards, Napier Field; and Marty Richards (Sherry), Dothan; a brother-in-law, Mark Sprouse; grandchildren, Melissa Mathis and Allie Richards; great-grandchildren, Ragan Vinson and Olivia Vinson.
