DOTHAN. . .James Lewis Hilson, a resident of Dothan, passed away early Friday morning, September 4, 2026, at his home. He was 78.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 7, 2026, in the Timbers Drive Church (1461 Timbers Drive, Dothan), with Pastor Josh Horton officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow in the Dothan City Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

Lewis Hilson was a lifelong resident of Dothan, son of the late Warren G. Hilson and Mozelle Evans Hilson. He was a graduate of Dothan High School and attended Troy University. Lewis was retired from Southeast Alabama Medical Center as a Radiological Technologist after forty years employment. He was a member of Timbers Drive Church and Dothan Elks Lodge. Lewis was an avid Alabama football fan.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Donna Gilbert Hilson; a daughter, Tabitha Penn (Andy), Midland City; a sister, Sharon Ann Hilson, Rainsville, AL; brothers, Warren Wesley Hilson (Diane), Dothan; and Mark Evans Hilson, Rainsville, AL; grandchildren, Braidden Bagwell, Tanner Cole, Gaven Cole, Olivia Cole and Stephen Woodham; a great-grandchild, Kingsleigh Bagwell; a special former sister-in-law, Donna Irene Bell Hilson, Dothan; a niece and two nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Andy Penn, Braidden Bagwell, Gaven Cole, Stephen Woodham, Tanner Cole, Michael Gilbert and Buddy Birge.
