Mr. James W. “J.W.” Ray of Coffee Springs, AL passed away Sunday, July 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 91 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2025, in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Branch officiating. Burial will follow in the Travelers Rest Cemetery in Samson, Alabama with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva, AL directing. The family will receive friends Wednesday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
J.W. was born on September 19, 1933, in Blountstown, FL to the late James William and Callie Stewart Ray. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ray was preceded in death by two wives, Lillie Ray and Blanche Ray; one daughter, Diane Brown; and one grandson, Eric Connell.
He is survived by six children, Shirley Arnold (Bob) of Auburndale, FL, Timothy Ray (Karen) of Virginia, James Branch (Laura) of Williston, FL, Danny Branch (Debbie) of Samson, AL, Debra Connell (Larry) of Coffee Springs, and Jo Kline (Scott) of Winter Haven, FL; numerous special grandchildren and great grandchildren; three brothers, Johnnie Ray (Maggie), Carol Ray, and Wayne Ray (Marie).
Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Branch, Cameron Ray, Chuck Ray, and DeWayne Cushing.
