ABBEVILLE. . .Jane Brannon Murphy, a resident of Abbeville, died Tuesday morning, June 3, 2025, at her home. She was 91.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, June 5, 2025, in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Henry Fullington, Darden Kirby and Reverend Justin Aultman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 Thursday in the church sanctuary. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Murphy was born and reared in the Old Center community of Henry County, daughter of the late Morgan Arthur Brannon and Mary Ella Snell Brannon. She was a graduate of Newville High School where she was crowned “Miss Newville”. Mrs. Murphy lived in Abbeville all her adult lifetime. She was an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and its W.M.U and was also a member of the Bowen Homemakers Club.  Mrs. Murphy worked formerly with her husband in the operation of Murphy Farm Center. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Hughes, five brothers, Marvette Brannon, Felix Brannon, Perry Brannon, Terry Brannon and Arthur Lee Brannon.

Surviving relatives include her husband, George Edgar Murphy, two daughters, Lisa Murphy Trawick (Chuck), Newville; and Ann Murphy, Huntsville; a son, Lee Murphy (Nancy), Enterprise; a sister-in-law, Jane Messick Murphy; grandchildren, Amanda Aultman (Justin), Claudia Trawick, Eliza Trawick, Cal Trawick (Laurel), Justin Murphy, Josh Murphy (Mallory), and Julie Butterworth (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Dalton Aultman (Katie), Branden Aultman, Evelyn Murphy, Abigail Murphy, Mary Margaret Murphy, Jackson Butterworth, Cade Butterworth and Mary Ryan Butterworth; a great-great-granddaughter, Josie Aultman; numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as active pallbearers will be the grandsons and Andrew Hartzog and Matthew Hughes.

The family would like to express their appreciation to SouthernCare Hospice, Southeast Home Health Care and special caregivers, Nina, Stella, Sarah, Mary, Brenda and Andrea, for the loving care and kindness shown to “Miss Jane”.
