Jarred “Plug” McNealy, age 40, of Dothan, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in New Jersey into a military family, Jarred was the son of Rex McNealy and Bonnie Gay McNealy. He later made Dothan his home, where he became well known and loved by so many. A proud member of the Dothan High School Class of 2005, Jarred had a personality that was impossible to forget and a way of making every moment a little more fun.
Jarred faced a difficult battle with a brain tumor, surrounded by the love, prayers, and support of his family. Though the road was not easy, his illness never defined who he was. He was so much more than the battle he faced. He was a man full of life, laughter, love, and a spirit that could brighten even the darkest room. Those who knew Jarred will remember not the challenges he faced, but the joy he brought to so many lives.
Jarred was truly a bright light. He had a heart bigger than life itself, a personality that could light up an entire room, and a sense of humor that could make anybody laugh. He loved music, dancing, rapping, and sports, especially Alabama football. If the Tide was playing, you could count on hearing a big “Roll Tide!” He enjoyed getting dressed up, looking his best, spending time with friends, and being wherever the fun was. He loved to eat, loved to laugh, and was almost always wearing a smile. Jarred was, without a doubt, the life of the party.
But behind that big personality was an even bigger heart. Jarred genuinely loved people and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He had a way of making people feel special, and his kindness reached far beyond his circle of family and friends. His faith was important to him, and he was a member of Dothan Vineyard Church. He loved God and carried a light that was felt by those fortunate enough to know him.
Above all, Jarred was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He loved his family deeply, and the memories he created with those closest to him will be treasured forever. His laughter, his smile, his unmistakable personality, and the love he shared will never be forgotten. Forty years was far too short, but Jarred made those years count. He lived, he loved, he laughed, and he left a mark on more hearts than he could ever have known.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rex “Mac” McNealy; daughter, Ava Timia Welte and brother-in-law, Rrandon “Popeye” Flucker.
Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Madonna McNealy; his mother, Bonnie McNealy; his children, Jovanna Jones, Gianna Jones, Jeremiah McNealy, and Hannah Johnson; his siblings, Rex McNealy, Jr., Zachary Pace McNealy, LaKisha Smith, Kendrick Rabb, and Latoya Young; his nephews, Zykius Grace, Mekhi Grace, and Zachary McNealy, Jr.; his nieces, ZaNalla Mosby, Zakiya McNealy, and Lakedra Thompson; his special aunt and uncle, Teresa McNealy and Randy McNealy; special friends, Twan Standfield, Terae Freeman, Jeremy Lee, Jamil Smith, Willie Carter and Scarlett Moore; along with many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Gentiva Hospice for their constant support, compassion, and loving care throughout Jarred’s journey. Your kindness and dedication will never be forgotten.
