HEADLAND. . .Jerry Hardy, a resident of Headland, died early Friday morning, December 27, 2024, at his home. He was 72.
Graveside services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Sunday, December 29, 2024, in the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Joey Pettis officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 4:00 P.M. Saturday afternoon at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joe Lee Griffin Hope Lodge, 1104 Ireland Way, Birmingham, AL 35205.
Jerry Hardy was born and reared in the Tumbleton Community of Henry County. He was a 1970 graduate of Headland High School and attended Wallace Technical College. Jerry was retired as Co-Owner and Operator of Hardy’s Headland Tire. After retirement, he operated Hardy’s Lawn Service. He was an avid golfer and was currently serving as President of Headland Country Club where he served as Superintendent for many years. Jerry was a member of New Zion Free Will Baptist Church and volunteered at Highland Oaks in Dothan. He was preceded in death by his father, L. J. Hardy, Jr., a niece, Dawn Hardy Lewis and a brother-in-law, John Skipper.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Colleen Tew Hardy; two sons, Neal Hardy, Headland; and Adam Hardy (Amanda), Tumbleton Community; his mother, Dot Shelley Hardy, Tumbleton Community; sisters, Judy Skipper, Headland and Zelda Oates (Wyatt), Tumbleton Community; a brother, Kyle Hardy (Dianne), Tumbleton Community; grandchildren, Trey Hardy, Tye Nowell (Sophie), Hudson Hardy, Gray Hardy, Mary Michael Hardy and Christen Hardy; a brother-in-law, Richard Tew (Regina), Clearwater, FL; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Curry Parker, Joe Masters, Pete Solomon, Walter Gay, Charles Money, Wesley Parker, Carl Thomas Jones and Wyatt Oates.
