JIMMY W. MORRIS

HEADLAND… Jimmy W. Morris, a resident of Headland, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at his home. He was 80 years old.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Worship Center of First Baptist Church Headland with visitation starting at 1:00 to 2:30 P.M. with Dr. Cecil M. Sanders officiating.

Jimmy was born in Dothan, Alabama to the late Burnice Jefferson Morris and Mable Knight Morris. He lived in the Headland, Alabama area his entire life and was a 1964 graduate of Headland High School. He served his country in the Headland Army National Guard. Jimmy started Morris Realty Real Estate and Construction in 1978 and extended that business to develop 3 subdivisions; Willow Oaks, CrossCreek, and SweetWater and finished out the Subdivision of Walden Pond. During his home building career, Jimmy built over 300 homes in the Headland Area.  He was a former member of the Headland Lion’s Club and the Headland Chamber of Commerce as well as Local and State Real Estate Associations. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Headland where he served as a Deacon, Safety and Security Control, and Building Maintenance Committee.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Jill Owens Walden; his brother, Kenneth E. Morris; his sisters-in-law, Bama Jo Horne and Jeanine Grace; his grandson, Brian Birklid, and his niece, Kendall Sanders.

Leaving to cherish his memories are his wife of fifty-five years, Ginger Douglas Walden Morris; his son, Joe Walden (Brent); his daughter, Holly Morris Burks (Brendan); his granddaughters, Asia Black, Amanda Long (Jesse), AC Burks, Claire Burks, and Owen Burks; his great-grandson, Roman Walden Black; his sisters, Betty Odom (Bubba) Gail Phillips (Tom); brother, Ricky Morris (Dina); sister-in-law, Jerry Douglas;  brother-in-law, Tim Grace;  nieces and nephews, Donna Jo Ethridge, Bettina Weisinger (Andy), Brittney Armstrong (Adam), Kellie Rogero (Eddie), Kevin Morris (Casie), Jordan Marlin (Shelby), Clay Grace (Holli), and Jim Grace.

The family wanted to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ryan Shingler and SouthernCare Hospice, Theresa Knighton, Jeanetta Johnson, Joanna Santos, and Paula Gillis for their loving acts of kindness during Jimmy’s illness.
