JoAnne Palmer, age 71, of Troy, Alabama, passed away on May 1, 2026.
JoAnne lived most of her life in Dothan, Alabama, where she built her home and family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother whose greatest joy came from her family. She lived with a quiet, steady generosity and was always willing to help those she loved. She spent the last 14 years helping to raise her grandchildren, remaining a constant and steady presence in their daily lives. If someone needed something, she would give what she could without hesitation and without expecting anything in return.
She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Liester, and her husband Brett Liester; her stepson, Joshua Palmer, and his wife Yvonne Palmer; her grandchildren, Camden Liester, Carter Liester, and Caylee Liester; her former husband, Keith Palmer, with whom she shared most of her life in marriage and remained a close friend thereafter; as well as several cousins and many other relatives who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, several relatives, and her beloved grandchild, Tyler, whom she loved dearly and looked forward to being reunited with.
A service to celebrate JoAnne’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb.
