JW Peterson, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on November 14, 1936, in Ashford, Alabama, JW was a man of integrity and warmth, whose presence brought comfort and joy to all who knew him.
Graveside Services will be held at 10 AM, Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the Ashford City Cemetery with Reverend Doug Seale officiating. The family will be accepting flowers.
JW was preceded in death by his loving parents, James Peterson and Tomilene Bonner Peterson, and his dear sister, Sue Clements. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, embodied by his beloved wife of 68 years, Bobbi Peterson; his daughter, Windy Crawford; son, Jimmy Peterson ( Merlina); his sisters, Brenda Lowe and her husband Albert, Sarah, and Carol; Cherished grandchildren, Heather Alpichi (Heathe), Kevin Peterson, and Warren Crawford (Rebekah); and his adored great-grandchildren, Clara Grace, Aiden Cleavland, Kamila, and KJ Alpichi.
JW’s life was marked by his unwavering commitment to his family and his country. He served honorably in the Army for four years, a period that instilled in him a sense of duty and resilience that he carried throughout his life. After his military service, JW found his calling as a truck driver, a profession he dedicated himself to until his retirement. His colleagues and friends within the trucking community will remember him as a reliable and hardworking individual who always lent a helping hand.
Beyond his professional life, JW was a man of many interests. He had a passion for woodworking, creating beautiful pieces that will serve as lasting reminders of his talent and creativity. His kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit were the hallmarks of his character. He was a guiding light for his family, offering wisdom, support, and unconditional love at every turn. His laughter and stories will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will continue to bring smiles to the faces of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
