COLUMBUS, GEORGIA. . .Kate Helen Vann Luttrell, a resident of Columbus, Georgia, passed away early Sunday evening, June 14, 2026, at her home. She was 97.
Mrs. Luttrell will be buried at 11:00 A.M. (CDT) Thursday, June 18, 2026, in the Headland Methodist Cemetery, Headland, Alabama with Dr. Jimmy Elder officiating. The family will receive friends following the burial. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 30, 2026, in the Chapel of the First Baptist Church of Columbus, Georgia with Dr. Jimmy Elder officiating. The family will receive friends following the services.

Mrs. Luttrell was born and grew up in Headland, Alabama, daughter of the late Samuel Richard Vann, Sr. and Emma Kate Solomon Vann. She was a graduate of Headland High School and attended the University of Montevallo and Auburn University. Mrs. Luttrell lived in Columbus most of her adult lifetime. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Columbus and its WMU, and also formerly served as receptionist at the church. Mrs. Luttrell was preceded in death by her husband, William Roy Luttrell, sisters, Grace Brannon, Emily Ezzell and Edith Espy, and brothers, Jack Vann, Sam Vann, Jr., Felix Vann and Dr. James W. Vann.
Surviving relatives include her daughters, Emily Luttrell Whiteside, Columbus, GA; and Beth Luttrell Saba (Dr. Richard Saba), Auburn, AL; a sister, Mary Owens Vann Bryan, Headland, AL; grandchildren, Anna Whiteside, Will Whiteside, Matthew Saba and John Saba (Megan Brown); a great-granddaughter, Daisy Anne Saba; numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Steve Ezzell, Dale Ezzell, Sam Brannon, Sid Brannon, Dick Vann, Sam Vann III, and Jack Vann.
