Larry Joe Austin, age 91, resident of Dothan passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at his home.
A Graveside Service will be held 12:00pm at Memory Hill Cemetery on Friday, February 28, 2025 with Rev. Taylor Rutland and Rev. Bob Gross officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to The First Baptist Church of Dothan, General Fund 300 West Main Street Dothan, AL 36301.
Larry was born in Stone Mountain, Georgia on August 10, 1933 to Benjamin William Austin and Velma Sewell Austin. He graduated from Ashford High School in 1952. Larry became an accountant in his later years and was self-employed. He attended First Baptist Church of Dothan. For sixty-two years of marriage, his hobby was his wife, June. After her passing he began a ministry of his own by visiting others in the nursing home and showing love to everyone he came in contact with. For his ninetieth birthday, he went skydiving and thoroughly enjoyed it. Larry was full of love and full of life.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, June Austin.
Survivors include his son, Joe Austin (Jan) of Huntsville; daughter, Karen Austin Pybus (Billy) of Dothan; six grandchildren, Matt Austin (Brigitte), Ben Austin (Ashley), Logan Austin, Ashley Pierce (Joe), Austin Wells (Ashley), Bradley Wells; six great grandchildren, Carter Wells, Jackson Austin, Zoey Austin, Lily Grace Austin, Heidi Austin, Anderson Peirce; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Austin, Ben Austin, Logan Austin, Austin Wells, Bradley Wells and Carter Wells.
